How Amani Quilts Are Made!

One of Amani ya Juu's specialty products are Handmade Quilts!
Each one is custom designed and crafted in Nairobi, Kenya.

Here's how we craft each masterpiece in 8 fascinating steps!

1: Monica sorts screen print and batik fabric scrap (nothing is wasted at Amani) for a beautiful one of kind quilt

2. Lydia cuts strips from the selected scrap fabric.

3.  Lydia stitches the strips into blocks.

4:  Monica and Lydia lay out the blocks for just the right match.

5: Lydia stitches the blocks together. The exciting quilt pattern is beginning to emerge.

6: Delphine prepares the finished pieced top for quilting.

7: Delphine, with her experienced eye, quilts freehand on the quilting machine.

8: The finished product!  A work of art that brings beauty and peace into any home.
